London’s award winning gateway to the world
Appointed for the first time back in 1992, and with a project roll call including Terminal 5 and the Air Traffic Control Tower, our 22 year history with Heathrow Airport is full of industry firsts, construction milestones, engineering leadership and world-class delivery and safety records. From achieving the first zero accident frequency rate in Heathrow’s history in 2005 as well as savings of £7 million, to making Heathrow the first ever UK airport to welcome the new A380 airbus in 2006, each individual project delivered at Heathrow has seemed to break more records than the last.
An outstanding example of engineering leadership
It was one of the biggest construction projects Europe had ever seen. Five major buildings, 147 different sub-projects, more than 3,000 separate jobs. All running together with one aim: to open the doors to Heathrow Terminal 5. In putting up the iconic control tower we built the viewing tower off-site and moved it into place overnight – all without interrupting air traffic. Then over the next four months, it was raised to its full height of 87 metres.
Still going strong
Since 2006 the relationship with Heathrow has continued to gather speed, in 2009 we were uniquely positioned as working in all five terminals of the airport, a first for any other company. 2012 marked the first time we had been awarded an entire portfolio of work at Heathrow. More recently we have signed the largest contract with the client since 2005, so proving our 22 year relationship shows no sign of waning any time soon.
