The EBRD invests in changing people’s lives and environments from central Europe to central Asia, the Western Balkans and the southern and eastern Mediterranean region. The EBRD works mainly with private sector clients, but also finances municipal entities and publicly owned companies. By offering the EBRD lender’s supervision and due diligence, we combine the expertise of our construction professionals, sector specialists and in-country teams, and bring together language skills, country regulation knowledge and practical experience for the client.

Currently Mace is providing lenders supervision services for the prestigious Abdali Mall project, part of the 1.8 million square metre mixed-use development in Amman, Jordan. Also known as the Abdali Urban Regeneration Project (AURP), or Abdali. The mall will introduce unique open-air features and will cover an area of over 227,000 square metres. Spread over five floors above ground, the mall comprises of a variety of retail stores, an entertainment centre, nine cinema screens, a food court, and a supermarket.  The five basements below ground house smart and conveniently accessible parking, accommodating up to 2,400 cars.

Our experience has proved invaluable for carrying out technical due diligence assessments. Armed with the EBRD brief on a project, and their guidelines, our central team is dispatched to visit the project’s site, examine documents, identify potential risks and talk to the developer’s team, and all within a limited period of time.

Credit where credit’s due

Our work for the EBRD also involves preparing lender’s supervision reports which require an element of detective work on our part. We ensure that reports are balanced and fair and reflect the unique nature of each assignment and each developer’s wider aims for economic growth. By understanding risk and identifying potential problems, we help the EBRD to protect their investment, providing reassurance that projects are progressing as expected and that work is being completed safely and to the quality demanded.

Through our relationship with the EBRD we’ve audited projects with a total construction value in excess of £1 billion, including an industrial facility in Russia, a retail park in Serbia, a data centre in Croatia, a technology park in Belarus and a car distribution centre in Azerbaijan.
